Nick had his concerns about the Xenophon son when he finally decided to use his reserve to the stallion and it wasn't without warrant. Xenophon was renown for his foul temper and desire to simply cause havoc, but thankfully Wrex has shown to have spirit, but not the dark rage his sire possessed. That isn't to say that he doesn't have a mind of his own or that he'll win personality of the year. He follows his grand-dam in the people department - he doesn't really care for people in general. He likes to do his own thing and can't stand being bossed or told what to do, which has led to a lot of dominance fights in the paddocks with the other colts.
Needless to say, he has no fear and isn't easily intimidated. In fact, he can become a bit sadistic once a horse gets on his bad side, poking and provoking them, just to get a rile out of them. Some can view him as mean spirited, but IRS has seen worst. He sets his own pace, his own rules (or so we let him think). He can be a bit of a monster to wrangle up from the pasture and his ground manners aren't the best. He's a red ribbon horse and has been known to attempt to bite pretty much anything and anyone in range when he's feeling testy or frustrated. It's a bad habit we're working on with him, but we're not sure it can ever really fully be broken. He needs consistency in order to maintain his large and dominant personality and we try to eliminate any deviations from his schedule as much as possible because he will exploit the chaos and uncertainty in the people handling them in the chaos of change. For a colt that doesn't care for people he will tolerate people who show him "who's boss". There can be no soft correction with Wrex. He'll outright ignore it like swatting a fly with his tail - a mere annoyance not worthy of his consideration. But stick to your guns, stand your ground and tell him no and yeah, you'll have a fight on your hands, but if you can outlast his wild will you will have his respect. You have to work for it with him.
Wrex's sire was a legend. Of all the foals he sired, all of them have been G1 winners and BC winners and anything you can imagine winners. Nick has been sitting on this reserve for a long time and when the chance arose to breed to the turf producing queen, well how could he refuse? So here you see the combining of two great house - the old and the new. And this combination never looked more lethal and it also never looked more promising.

Leg Type: Versatile [Front/Preceder Tendencies]
Racing in his blood. It's in his very fiber and it shows. Oddly enough, his dominant like personality doesn't mean he's a raging monster on race day. Rather his general dislike for people kind of shuts him down for the masses. He's stoic, cold and intimidating as hell so people won't come close to him. This also gives him the added advantage of getting into the zone. It's clear to see his mindset switch. He's taking in everything and everyone and he observes them with a cold detachment in the schooling paddock. Once he's saddled and moving to the track, he can get a bit more animated. He cannot have a race pony because he'll bite the crap out of them and so he rides solo to the gates and that's the way he likes it. Once he's in, he's poised like a snake and when those gates fly open so does he, right behind the leaders and into a stalking position about three lengths off the leaders. He likes the odd in-between of stalking the leaders, but still ahead of the pack and there he'll stay until the final moments. His rider is more like a required decoration because he needs no urging to sprint for home, his natural will demanding to show up the competition.
